Seeing Yourself Throgh Gods Eyes
The Courage to Embrace Your Reflection: Seeing Yourself Through God’s Eyes
How often do we look in the mirror and struggle to embrace the reflection staring back at us? Whether it’s the weight of past mistakes, societal standards, or the voices of others, we sometimes find it hard to accept ourselves fully. But what if we chose to see ourselves as God does—accepted, loved, and whole?
From the Torah to the New Testament, God’s Word reassures us that we are deeply valued. In Genesis 1:27, we are told that we are made in the image and likeness of God. This means our worth is not determined by external validation but by the divine imprint within us.
The New Testament echoes this truth in Ephesians 1:4-5, affirming that we were chosen before the foundation of the world, predestined for adoption as God’s children. Romans 8:38-39 assures us that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not our past, our flaws, or even our own doubts.
Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 remind us that when we are in Christ, we are a new creation. The old has passed away, and we are reconciled to God. This reconciliation isn’t just about our relationship with Him; it’s also about how we see ourselves. To have the mind of Christ means embracing the truth that we are already accepted and restored, regardless of what the world says.
Instead of focusing on external criticisms, we must build the courage to stand firm in God’s truth. Accepting ourselves is an act of faith. It means agreeing with God’s declaration that we are His beloved, rather than believing the lies that tell us we are not enough.
Building Courage to Accept Yourself
Daily Affirmations from Scripture – Speak over yourself the words of Psalm 139:14: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” When you affirm what God says about you, the negative voices lose their power.
Silence External Noise – Social media, culture, and even well-meaning people can cloud your perception of yourself. Take time daily to disconnect from outside influences and reconnect with God’s truth.
Renew Your Mind – Meditate on Romans 12:2: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” Choosing to align your thoughts with God’s perspective leads to deeper self-acceptance.
Step into the Ministry of Reconciliation – Instead of living in self-rejection, embrace your identity as a reconciled child of God. 2 Corinthians 5:20 says that we are ambassadors of Christ—representatives of His love and truth. When you accept yourself, you become a vessel of healing for others.
Surround Yourself with Encouragement – Community matters. Surround yourself with people who see you through God’s eyes and who remind you of your worth.
Your reflection in the mirror is not just a physical image; it is a testimony of God’s craftsmanship. You are more than the sum of your perceived imperfections. You are chosen, redeemed, and deeply loved.
